Breaking News: Istanbul Regional Imam of FETO Captured
In a major breakthrough, the Ministry of Interior has announced the capture of M.G., who was working as the “Istanbul Regional Imam” in the so-called Air Force Command structure of the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO). The Istanbul Police Department Anti-Terrorism and Intelligence Branch Directorate teams were instrumental in apprehending MG during an operation in Ataşehir, as stated by the Ministry.
M.G., who had been on the run for six years, had been hiding in registered residences under different names to avoid detection. An arrest warrant for “being a member of an armed terrorist organization” had been issued against him by the Ankara 2nd Heavy Penal Court No. 2018/492. It was revealed that he had been using the name Orhan K. within the organization.
Further investigations uncovered that M.G. had account activities in Bank Asya, a financial institution known to support FETO. He had also been working in educational institutions affiliated with FETO, which were subsequently closed by a statutory decree.
The authorities also discovered that M.G. had numerous communications with the so-called “Air Forces imam” Kemal Batmaz and the wanted fugitive “Turkish Armed Forces imam” Adil Öksüz. These communications involved the use of a secret operational line, comprising seven different channels. The investigations linked M.G. to the theft of KPSS questions and irregularities that occurred in 2010.
After completing the necessary procedures at the police station, M.G. was transferred to the courthouse, where he was subsequently arrested by the judgeship that had issued the warrant.
This latest development represents a significant achievement in the fight against FETO and its network of individuals involved in illegal activities. The Turkish authorities continue to work tirelessly to dismantle the organization and ensure that justice is served.
