Fidesz Warns New EU Migration Pact Opens Europe to Illegal Immigration
The European Parliament’s civil liberties committee’s support for the EU’s proposed New Pact on Migration and Asylum has sparked controversy, with a member of the ruling Fidesz party accusing the pact of potentially opening up Europe to illegal migration.
MEP Balázs Hidvéghi criticized the pact, claiming that it would effectively implement what he referred to as the “Soros plan,” which includes provisions for enforcing illegal migrant distribution quotas and penalizing member states that refuse to accept the scheme.
Hidvéghi argued that the new pact would make it impossible to control and expel illegal immigrants, leading to the creation of migrant ghettos, which he deemed as unacceptable. He also emphasized Hungary’s successful approach to stopping illegal migration, citing the country’s border fence and related laws as effective measures.
Furthermore, Hidvéghi condemned the EU pact as an attack on Hungary’s well-functioning system for managing migration, asserting that the country would continue to resist illegal migration and reject becoming an immigrant destination.
