Fights Break Out at Election Polls with Mass Voting

Violent incidents have occurred in the Akçakale district of the Şanlıurfa province during the presidential and parliamentary elections. Supporters of the People’s Alliance attempted to engage in “collective voting,” which is illegal, and caused physical harm to ballot box officials who tried to prevent it. In one instance, a member of the IYI Party ballot box committee was burned with boiling water by the group. The incidents were caught on camera and have since gone viral on social media.
Ronahi Paydaş, a member of the CHP Şanlıurfa Provincial Presidency, has condemned the violence and stated that the party will file a criminal complaint with the District Election Board about the matter. The incidents have led to concerns about the integrity of the elections and the need for stricter enforcement of the regulations prohibiting block voting.
In another disturbing development, an image allegedly taken in the city where the voting process was taking place showed someone stamping ballot papers for People’s Alliance presidential candidate, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. An investigation has been initiated on the matter, and authorities have called for vigilance against attempts to influence the election outcome illegally.
These incidents of violence and attempts at electoral fraud are alarming and undermine the principles of free and fair elections. It is essential for authorities to take immediate action to prevent further such incidents and ensure that the elections are conducted without interference or intimidation. All political parties and their supporters must respect the rules of the democratic process and work towards a peaceful and successful election.
