Final Delivery of Donated Feed Barley from Turkey Arrives at Famagusta Port

The Republic of Turkey continues to support the small livestock industry in Northern Cyprus by donating barley to help minimize the impact of last year’s drought. The latest shipment of barley has arrived at Famagusta Port, marking the final delivery of this much-needed assistance.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources has confirmed that the distribution of the donated barley has already begun, with the first batch of 9,400 tons being distributed by the Soil Products Institution. This assistance will reach a total of 264,277 small ruminants aged 12 months and above, in 3,798 small ruminant enterprises across the country, particularly in the Famagusta, Iskele, and Guzelyurt regions.

The distribution of the last shipment is set to commence tomorrow, starting from all warehouses owned by the Soil Products Institution and distributed to registered producers. Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Hüseyin Çavuş, emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting production and producers in all circumstances, expressing gratitude to the Republic of Turkey for their ongoing support.

Minister Çavuş also extended his thanks to Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz and Nicosia Ambassador Metin Feyzioğlu for their assistance in facilitating the donation of barley to Northern Cyprus. The gesture of solidarity from the Republic of Turkey is a testament to the strong relationship between the two countries and their shared commitment to helping each other during times of need.
