Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Finance to Allocate 900 Million Soms Annually for Smart City Project
Bishkek – 14:39, 18 October 2024 – The Ministry of Finance of Kyrgyzstan has announced its plans to allocate 900 million soms annually for the implementation of the Smart City project. This project is a component of the larger Safe City project which aims to enhance security and improve technological infrastructure within urban areas.
The Ministry of Finance has committed to allocate budget funds in the amount of 900 million soms for every 12 months from 2025 to 2027. This significant investment demonstrates the government’s dedication to modernizing and improving the country’s urban centers.
In a recent development, President Sadyr Japarov signed a decree on September 18 to enhance the work of the Safe City component within the Smart City project. The decree designates the Ministry of Internal Affairs as the primary entity responsible for coordinating the implementation of this project.
As part of this initiative, the Ministry of Digital Development will transfer the automated Safe City system to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The Infocom state enterprise, operating under the Ministry of Digital Development, has been selected as the technical operator for this system.
Overall, the commitment of substantial funds towards the Smart City project underscores the government’s efforts to create more efficient, secure, and technologically advanced urban environments in Kyrgyzstan.
