Financial Academy: Formerly Known as the Training Center of Finance Ministry
Financial Academy of the Ministry of Finance Renamed in Kyrgyz Republic
In an effort to enhance the professional development of state and municipal employees in the realm of public finance management, the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic has decided to rename the state institution Training Center of the Ministry of Finance to Financial Academy of the Ministry of Finance. The decree officially changing the name was signed by Chairman Adylbek Kasymaliev on March 25.
The Ministry of Finance has been tasked with carrying out the necessary state re-registration of the institution and aligning its decisions with the new decree within a period of six months. The document will take effect seven days after its official publication.
Originally established in 1978 as the Republican Courses for advanced training of financial and insurance employees, the Training Center of the Ministry of Finance was transformed in 2001. Its primary goal has been to provide training and retraining for Ministry of Finance staff, as well as specialists from state and local government bodies, on topics such as effective public finance management, international financial reporting standards, and internal audit in the public sector.
Interestingly, Kyrgyzstan boasts over 10 higher education institutions that include the term “academy” in their names. Among these are academies affiliated with various state bodies in the country, such as the Academy of Public Administration under the President, the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and others.
This latest renaming of the Training Center to Financial Academy reflects a broader trend in Kyrgyzstan towards emphasizing professional development and excellence in various fields.
