Finnish President Alexander Stubb Urges US President Trump to Set Deadline for Ukraine Ceasefire
Finnish President Alexander Stubb recently met with US President Donald Trump to discuss the urgent need for a ceasefire in Ukraine. Stubb emphasized the importance of setting a deadline to make the ceasefire a reality, suggesting that April 20 would be an ideal date for a full ceasefire without any conditions.
During their meeting in Florida, Stubb and Trump discussed strengthening the bilateral partnership between Finland and the United States, as well as enjoying a round of golf. Since taking office, President Trump has been vocal about ending the conflict in Ukraine, referring to it as a “ridiculous” war.
In further efforts to de-escalate tensions, the United States recently announced agreements with both Ukraine and Russia to pause strikes in the Black Sea and against each other’s energy targets. Stubb warned that Trump’s patience with Russia is wearing thin and that the US has “far-reaching” plans if Russia does not agree to a ceasefire.
President Trump has even gone so far as to threaten secondary tariffs of 25% to 50% on all Russian oil if he believes Moscow is hindering his efforts to bring an end to the war. With tensions mounting, the international community is closely watching the developments in Ukraine and the actions of all involved parties.
