Fish Farmer Steals Over 5 Tons of Trout in Six-Month Crime Spree
Law enforcement officers in Bishkek have successfully captured a 28-year-old man who was wanted for the embezzlement of entrusted property on a large scale. The Main Department of Internal Affairs of Chui region shared this information with the 24.kg news agency.
According to reports, a concerned citizen lodged a complaint with the Department of Internal Affairs of Issyk-Ata district on December 21, 2023. The complainant accused his employee, identified as T.A., of illegally taking fish products from Aqua Service LLC’s workshop in Novopokrovka village between February 1 and August 11, 2023. It was determined that approximately 5,600 kilograms of trout, valued at 2.5 million soms, were misappropriated.
Following the complaint, a criminal case was initiated under the article “Appropriation or embezzlement of entrusted property” of the Kyrgyz Republic’s Criminal Code. The suspect eluded the authorities and went into hiding, eventually being placed on the wanted list. After two years of investigation, law enforcement officials were able to locate and arrest the suspect, who is now being held in a temporary detention facility while the investigation continues.
