Five Kyrgyz Generals Demoted from Their Ranks
Bishkek – 15:56, 29 October 2024 – The President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, has taken action to strip five former officials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the State Committee for National Security of their general ranks. The decision was made and announced on October 10, 2024.
The officials who were stripped of their general epaulets include Almazbek Orozaliev, Mirlan Kanimetov, Malik Nurdinov, Talantbek Saliev, and Sanzharbek Erkinbaev. These individuals were previously holding the rank of Major General of police or Major General within the respective organizations.
The move to revoke their ranks was justified by allegations of illegal conferring of these titles during their tenure in the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the State Committee for National Security. It has been clarified that the orders conferring these ranks will be nullified.
This decision marks a significant step towards addressing issues of misconduct and ensuring accountability within law enforcement and security agencies in Kyrgyzstan. It sends a clear message that unauthorized actions will not be tolerated and that integrity and transparency are paramount in serving the nation’s interests.
