The Aviation Sector in Turkey: Growing and Strengthening
The aviation sector in Turkey is not just a means of transportation anymore. It has become a bridge connecting countries and cultures, contributing significantly to economic growth, tourism development, and global trade. With the implementation of the “National Technology Ham” program, environmentally sensitive activities are being carried out to improve the aviation industry.
As part of the efforts to enhance Turkey’s effectiveness in international civil aviation, increase sector potential, and drive continuous development, initiatives are being pursued meticulously. The country currently has 15,530 licensed pilots, a number set to rise to 16,030 by the end of 2025. This increase will bolster Turkey’s position in global aviation competition.
Moreover, the number of licensed balloon pilots in Turkey is also slated to grow, from 735 last year to 773 by the end of 2025. Stringent audits within civil aviation ensure safety and compliance, with the number of inspections expected to rise from 1,787 in 2024 to 1,856 this year.
Turkey’s adherence to International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) regulations and safety standards, which stood at 85% last year, will be maintained in 2025. These efforts showcase Turkey’s commitment to enhancing its aviation sector and positioning itself strongly in the global market.
