Flood Causes Waterfall Overflow in Second Longest Cave
The world’s second longest cave, Çal Cave, was recently hit by a flood due to heavy rainfall in the Eastern Black Sea Region. The waterfall at the upper part of the cave overflowed, blocking the entrance and forcing tourists inside to wait as a precaution.
Located in Çalköy of Düzköy district in Trabzon, Çal Cave is known for being the second longest cave in the world. The flood caused by rainwater is not the first incident of its kind, as similar floods have occurred in previous years, leading to destruction.
Images captured show the overflowing water and tourists exiting the cave one by one. The recent rainfall not only affected Çal Cave but also other important tourism centers in the region. Authorities are working to assess the damage caused by the flood and ensure the safety of visitors to the cave in the future.
