Fly for Less: Score Cheap Tickets on Big Jets with BRTK

Minister of Public Works and Transportation, Erhan ARIKLI, recently met with Turkish Airlines Organization A Jet General Manager Kerem Sarp to discuss important topics related to Ercan Airport New Terminal, flights, and tourism between the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and the Republic of Turkey.

During the meeting, it was revealed that airline companies, including A Jet, are facing challenges in offering cheap tickets due to high taxes. Kerem Sarp mentioned that they pay 300 TL per passenger on flights to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and expressed the need for a reduction in taxes to make air travel more affordable.

In response, Minister Arıklı acknowledged the issue and emphasized the importance of finding solutions to lower ticket prices and attract more tourists to the country. He highlighted the need for the state to consider waiving some of the income generated from taxes to facilitate cheaper tickets and promote tourism.

Both parties agreed that increasing the number of flights and introducing large-bodied planes to Ercan Airport could help in offering more competitive ticket prices. Ultimately, the goal is to benefit the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus by boosting tourism and making air travel more accessible to passengers.

By working together and addressing the challenges faced by the aviation industry, both the government and airline companies hope to bring positive changes to the travel experience to and from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
