Forbidden Love: 6 Years of Brutality
Forbidden love leads to fatal shooting in Turkey
A tragic incident occurred at noon the previous day at TOKİ Residences in the Pelitköy District of Samsun’s Atakum district. Muradiye Terzi, 31, was attacked in front of her home and shot in the chest. Despite efforts made at Samsun Ondokuz Mayıs University Faculty of Medicine Hospital, she tragically succumbed to her injuries.
The assailant fled the scene, but was later identified by police as Murat Demir, 43, who has since turned himself in. Following a police interrogation, Demir confessed to the crime, revealing a long-term forbidden love affair that had tragically spiraled into violence.
“I divorced my wife 3 years ago and met Muradiye Terzi, who lived in the same apartment building where I worked as an attendant. She herself had been through a divorce and we became friends,” Demir disclosed during his police interview. “Muradiye later married someone else, but we continued our affair in secret for 6 years. I sent her a significant amount of money over the years, hoping to improve her quality of life. However, a rift formed between us two months ago when Muradiye expressed a desire to end our relationship.”
The situation took a startling turn when Muradiye invited Demir to her home under false pretenses, pulling a gun on him upon their arrival. A struggle ensued, and Demir ultimately lost control and fired the gun, believing it to be unloaded.
Following his confession to the authorities, Murat Demir was arrested and taken to Samsun T Type Closed Prison. The harrowing tragedy serves as a reminder of the consequences of forbidden love, and the unforeseen ways in which they can come to a devastating end.
