Foreign Affairs Minister Meets with Head of UNICEF in Turkmenistan
Turkmenistan and UNICEF Discuss Collaboration on Child Health and Development
On June 12, 2024, Turkmenistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rashid Meredov, met with Jalpa Ratna, the newly appointed Head of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Office in Turkmenistan. During the meeting, Ratna presented her credentials to Minister Meredov.
Congratulating Ratna on her new role as the UNICEF Representative in Turkmenistan, Meredov expressed his wishes for success and achievements in her mission to strengthen cooperation between Turkmenistan and the international organization. The two diplomats discussed the current level of cooperation and explored opportunities for further collaboration between Turkmenistan and UNICEF.
Turkmenistan highlighted its comprehensive approach to child health and development during the discussions. The officials also touched upon the UNICEF Country Program for Turkmenistan for 2021-2025, focusing on governance for children, child health, nutrition, early development, social protection, and quality education. The significance of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation in providing medical services to children in need was emphasized.
The Head of the UNICEF Office in Turkmenistan expressed her commitment to enhancing the partnership in various areas of mutual interest and expanding the legal framework for cooperation between Turkmenistan and UNICEF.
The meeting underscored the shared commitment of Turkmenistan and UNICEF to promote the well-being and development of children in Turkmenistan. Both parties look forward to future collaboration in advancing child health and welfare in the country.
