Fake Passports Issued to Foreign Extremists in Kyrgyzstan
Bishkek – 11:40, 05 July 2024 – The State Committee for National Security (SCNS) in Kyrgyzstan has reported that fake passports of Kyrgyzstan were issued to foreign extremists in the Osh region. It has been discovered that official documents were systematically created in Kara-Suu district for foreign individuals involved in activities of religious extremist organizations, allowing them to illegally obtain citizenship of the Kyrgyz Republic.
As part of the criminal investigation under Article 379 of the Criminal Code of Kyrgyz Republic for “Forgery of documents,” authorities conducted searches in the homes of two individuals. Medical birth certificate forms, death certificates with official seals, and passports of citizens from Kyrgyzstan and neighboring countries were confiscated. In addition, extremist materials and leaflets from the organization Hizb ut-Tahrir were also found.
Efforts are currently underway to identify other individuals who were involved in assisting with the illegal issuance of passports and other documents to foreign extremists. The SCNS is working diligently to address this serious issue and ensure the safety and security of the country.
