Forest Access Restricted in Erzurum Until October 15: Governor’s Announcement
To prevent forest fires, strict measures have been announced in certain areas in the Şenkaya and Oltu districts. The governor’s office has stated that between July 1 and October 15, activities such as taking breaks, lighting fires, and having picnics are prohibited in specific Scots pine afforestation areas and forests.
The areas affected by these regulations include the Scots pine afforestation areas on both sides of the Şenkaya district road junction asphalt, the Scots pine afforestation areas around the İkizpınar village road, and the Scots pine forests on both sides of various village roads in the Oltu district.
Furthermore, burning stubble and other vegetation in villages located 4 kilometers away from forest areas is strictly prohibited, with penal action promised against those who violate this regulation. Citizens are urged to only have picnics without fires in registered picnic areas allocated to them, taking the necessary precautions to avoid any potential fire hazards.
Businesses operating in the registered picnic areas are expected to warn citizens about the risks of fires and to ensure that no garbage is left behind. Additionally, companies involved in renovation and new construction within or near the forest areas are required to take precautionary measures to prevent fires and protect the environment.
These measures have been put in place to safeguard the forests and prevent the devastating effects of forest fires during the dry summer months. It is vital for all citizens to follow these regulations and take responsibility for protecting the natural beauty of these areas.
