Former Ombudsman to Request Country’s BRICS Membership from President

The former Kyrgyz Ombudsman is seeking the country’s accession to BRICS, as reported by Tursunbek Akun, the current coordinator of the Congress for the Protection of Human Rights in Central Asia. In a statement to journalists, Akun stated his intention to ask President Sadyr Japarov to apply for Kyrgyzstan’s membership in the BRICS alliance.

Akun is currently in the capital of Tatarstan, where the BRICS summit is taking place. He expressed his support for BRICS, referring to it as the hope of the entire globe. The summit, attended by leaders of 36 countries and representatives of six international organizations, has also attracted UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

President Japarov participated in the summit at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin. The two leaders held an official meeting on the sidelines of the event. It was noted that Kazakhstan has decided not to join BRICS at this time.

The discussions at the summit are expected to focus on cooperation and economic development among member countries. BRICS, which stands for Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, is seen as a significant global alliance that holds promise for the future.
