Former President and Deputy of Kyrgyzindustriya Arrested
Former President of Kyrgyzindustriya OJSC Zharasul Abduraimov and Vice President B.B. have been detained on charges of corruption, as reported by the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan (SCNS).
The arrest follows a comprehensive audit conducted by the Prosecutor General’s Office, which revealed that Kyrgyzindustriya received over 2.3 billion soms from the national budget between 2022 and 2024. The investigation uncovered a corruption scheme within the company, leading to the misappropriation and embezzlement of these funds through various subsidiaries.
According to the SCNS press center, Kyrgyzindustriya established more than 40 unprofitable enterprises during this period, where financial investments remained unrecoverable. The management of the OJSC allegedly pursued personal gain through illegal means, appointing relatives, friends, and close associates to high-paying management positions within the company.
The press release further states that the overlap of positions between Kyrgyzindustriya and its subsidiaries allowed for double wages to be received by certain employees, leading to ineffective management and the deliberate misuse of state resources. The exact extent of the damage caused to the state is currently being calculated.
The case against Abduraimov and B.B. highlights the ongoing struggle against corruption in Kyrgyzstan, emphasizing the importance of holding those in positions of power accountable for their actions.
