Four Trading Company Owners Arrested for Selling Fake Motor Oils

Four trading company owners detained for selling counterfeit motor oils in Kyrgyzstan

Four owners of trading companies have been detained in Jalal-Abad and Osh regions in Kyrgyzstan for counterfeiting and selling branded motor oils, according to the press center of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan (SCNS).

The SCNS reported that following numerous complaints from vehicle owners regarding the quality of the motor oils sold, a criminal case was launched under Article 225 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. Searches were conducted in warehouses in Jalal-Abad and Osh regions, where large quantities of counterfeit motor oils were discovered and seized.

Investigations revealed that the directors of the companies and suppliers were illegally importing low-quality oils from China and selling them under the guise of branded motor oil brands. The seized oils did not have excise stamps that came into effect on March 1, 2025, and examination showed the absence of an “alkaline number” in their composition, a crucial property for engine protection.

The SCNS also discovered collusion between the so-called tenderers and government agencies, who supplied counterfeit oils as originals. Furthermore, instances of cheap Russian-made oils being poured into containers of branded oils for resale were uncovered in Jalal-Abad and Osh.

Citizens are urged by the SCNS to be cautious at oil change points and to verify the presence of certificates of conformity, confirming the manufacturer and quality of the oil. Investigative measures are currently underway to identify all individuals involved in this criminal scheme.
