
Fraudulent Promise of U.S. Job Leads to Scammer’s Arrest

A Man Arrested in Tashkent for Job Scam Promising Employment in the USA
In a recent operation carried out by authorities in Tashkent, a man identified as S.G. was arrested for allegedly defrauding a citizen of $20,000 by promising to secure employment in the USA. The suspect claimed he could facilitate the victim’s travel and job search through his supposed influential contacts.
The arrest was made by officers from the Uchtepa District Department of the Prosecutor General’s Office, the State Security Service, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs. S.G. was accused of gaining the trust of the victim, identified as D.S., and convincing him that he could help him find work in the USA.
S.G. was apprehended while accepting the $20,000 payment, which he had demanded for his services, through an intermediary named A.A. A criminal case has been initiated under Articles 168 (Fraud) and 211 (Bribery) of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan, and the investigation into the matter is ongoing.
Authorities are warning citizens to be cautious of individuals promising job opportunities abroad for a fee, as scams like these can result in financial loss and legal consequences. They advise individuals to verify the credentials and legitimacy of any offers before making any payments or commitments to avoid falling victim to fraudulent schemes.
