Free Metro Ride: Limited Time Offer Until March 31
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan recently delivered a speech at the Arnavutköy-Istanbul Airport Metro Opening Ceremony, where he announced key developments in the transportation sector of Istanbul.
During his speech, President Erdoğan emphasized the significant reduction in travel time between Arnavutköy and Istanbul Airport, with the journey taking only 8 minutes. Additionally, the transportation duration between Arnavutköy and Gayrettepe will decrease to 41 minutes. He also mentioned the plan to put the project phase in the direction of Halkalı into service within a year, which will complete Turkey’s longest rail system ring line spanning 69 kilometers.
The President highlighted the considerable progress made in expanding Istanbul’s rail system, with approximately 162 kilometers added since the opening of the airport. This infrastructure development aims to enhance mobility and connectivity in the city.
Furthermore, President Erdoğan addressed the need for focusing on works, services, projects, and investments for Istanbul’s development, rather than political scandals and personal ambitions. He criticized the opposition party’s involvement in the ‘İSKİ scandal’ and emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability in municipal governance.
President Erdoğan also questioned the spending priorities of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, pointing out discrepancies in financial management and service delivery. He called out those who claim to be ‘accounting experts’ but fail to address the underlying issues affecting the city.
In light of these remarks, President Erdoğan announced that the new metro line will be free for public use until March 31, encouraging citizens to experience the improved transportation network in Istanbul. This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to enhancing public infrastructure and promoting sustainable urban development in the country.
