Public transport will be free on April 23 in Turkey
In celebration of the 23rd of April National Sovereignty and Children’s Day, public transportation will be free of charge in Turkey. This decision was made by the President and includes services such as Başkentray, Marmaray, İzban, Sirkeci-Kazlıçeşme Raylı System Line, and the Gayrettepe-Istanbul Airport Metro Line.
According to the Official Gazette, on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, all these public transportation services will be exempt from charges to commemorate this special day. This initiative aims to encourage more people to participate in the celebrations and events organized for the National Sovereignty and Children’s Day.
Additionally, Turkish Airlines (THY) has also announced a special discount for April 23, allowing travelers to enjoy reduced fares for their flights on this significant day. This gesture further highlights the importance of this national holiday and encourages people to come together to celebrate the sovereignty and future of the country’s children.
