Free Space Offered at Osh’s New Municipal Market
Construction of new municipal market underway in Osh
Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic – As part of the ongoing development of Osh city, the municipal market is currently under construction, with plans to provide places for sellers free of charge. Erlan Atabayev, chief specialist of the Department of Economy, Finance, and Investments at the City Hall, shared details about the relocation of vendors affected by the mudslide and other markets within the city.
The new shopping complex, located on Osmonov Street (shopping mall Megapolis), is being prepared for vendors with work underway to provide necessary infrastructure such as electricity and power poles. This initiative comes after the decision to move the central market, previously situated along Ak-Buura River, to a safer location following destructive mudflows in Osh city.
Atabayev emphasized that sellers will not have to purchase their places at the municipal market, as they will be provided free of charge. A special commission will be established to assist in the placement of entrepreneurs, with participation from relevant authorities and interested parties. Sellers will need to register with the Tax Service and obtain necessary permits before being allocated a spot at the market.
