French Language Olympiad in Turkmen Schools: A Cultural Showcase
The French Language Olympiad is currently taking place in secondary schools in Ashgabat and the regions of Turkmenistan this week. This event is part of the activities planned for Francophonie 2025, a celebration dedicated to promoting the French language and culture.
One of the highlights of the Olympiad was the annual dictation held at specialized school No. 4 in Ashgabat, with the participation of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Turkmenistan, Philippe Merlin, and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania to Turkmenistan, Ion Naval.
The theme of Francophonie 2025 is “30 Years of French Language Teaching in Turkmenistan”, and throughout the month of March, various events and activities are scheduled to raise awareness about the French language and its importance.
The Olympiad aims to not only celebrate the French language but also to encourage students to engage with the language and culture in a fun and interactive way. With the support of ambassadors and educators, young learners are able to showcase their skills and knowledge of the French language.
