From Losing Millions to Courtroom Theft: One Man’s Unfortunate Luck
A violent incident occurred outside the Istanbul Palace of Justice Additional Service Building in Çağlayan on October 26. Sefa Ö., a land and vehicle trader, and Muhammet Ö., his business associate, filed a criminal complaint for fraud amounting to 37.5 million liras against Şeref Y. and Şeref Y. This led to an investigation and a trial between Muhammet Ö. and Şeref Y.
The dispute between the parties took an unexpected turn during the court hearing on October 26. Şeref Y., one of the parties involved, physically attacked Sefa Ö. During the scuffle, Sefa Ö.’s $7,000 bracelet came loose and fell to the ground. Muhammet Ö., upon seeing the bracelet fall, picked it up and surreptitiously placed it in his pocket.
Subsequently, Sefa Ö. discovered that his bracelet was missing and, upon reviewing security camera footage, observed Muhammet Ö. pocketing the bracelet. Sefa Ö. reported this to the courthouse security guards, who intervened. They approached Muhammet Ö., showed him the footage, and requested the return of the bracelet. Muhammet Ö. complied by handing over the bracelet to the security guards.
The incident was captured on security camera footage, which clearly showed Muhammet Ö. taking the bracelet and ultimately returning it to the authorities. The footage also revealed the scuffle between the parties. This unexpected turn of events adds a new layer of complexity to the ongoing legal dispute.
