Funding Secured for New Airport in Bukhara Region: $226 Million allocated for Construction.
Masdar, a renewable energy company from the UAE, is set to build a 250 MW solar power plant in Uzbekistan. The plant, which will cover 648 hectares of land in the Olot district, is expected to be connected to the grid by the end of 2025.
This project is part of a larger initiative to increase the use of renewable energy sources in the Bukhara region. ACWA Power from Saudi Arabia and Gezhouba from China are also involved in building renewable energy facilities in the area. By 2030, the region’s “green” energy capacity is projected to increase by 9 times, reaching up to 12.5 billion kWh per year.
In addition to the solar power plant, other major infrastructure projects are underway in Bukhara. The construction of a gas chemical complex and a new international airport are among the developments aimed at boosting economic growth and attracting tourism to the region.
The airport project, which is set to be implemented through a public-private partnership, will create an airport infrastructure capable of serving 1.2 thousand passengers per hour. This is expected to improve the quality of service for passengers and aircraft, potentially attracting new international airlines to Bukhara.
Overall, these projects reflect Uzbekistan’s commitment to sustainable development and the transition to clean energy. With the support of international partners, the Bukhara region is poised to become a hub for renewable energy and economic growth in the years to come.
