Funeral Prayers in Istanbul for Palestine Attack Victims
In a show of solidarity with the Palestinians who lost their lives in the recent attacks in Palestine, funeral prayers were conducted in absentia at various mosques in Istanbul, including the renowned Hagia Sophia and Fatih mosques.
Following the announcement by the Presidency of Religious Affairs, a collective prayer was recited to honor the deceased victims. The statement emphasized that the Holy Quran would be recited in all mosques, offering prayers dedicated to the souls of the martyred Palestinians. Additionally, a funeral prayer in absentia would be held after the noon prayer.
Numerous citizens eager to participate in the prayers flocked to mosques across the city, with a notable turnout at the Hagia Sophia Mosque, Sultanahmet Mosque, Fatih Mosque, Taksim Mosque, and Büyük Çamlıca Mosque.
Prior to the noon prayer, passages from the Holy Quran were recited, accompanied by prayers specifically offered for the Palestinians who tragically lost their lives in the Israeli attacks. Following this, mourners formed queues to partake in the funeral prayer in absentia.
Even foreign tourists joined the heart-wrenching funeral prayer at the Hagia Sophia Mosque and the Blue Mosque, displaying their solidarity with the victims.
The attack on al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in Gaza particularly fueled strong reactions from some attendees, who expressed their displeasure towards Israel’s actions.
This meaningful and compassionate display of support in Istanbul not only commemorated the lives lost in Palestine but also served as a reminder that unity and solidarity can transcend borders and bring people together during times of grief and hardship.
