Galatasaray Club Holds Council Meeting at RAMS Park
The Galatasaray Club recently held its council meeting at the Özhan Canaydın Conference Hall in Ali Sami Yen Sports Complex RAMS Park. The meeting was attended by club president Dursun Özbek, vice president Metin Öztürk, management, and board members. It was chaired by Chairman of the Board of Directors Aykutalp Derkan.
During the meeting, council board members evaluated the agenda. The majority of the members expressed their dissatisfaction that the Turkcell Super Cup match against Fenerbahçe was not played in Turkey on the 100th anniversary of the Republic. Former manager, Sedat Doğan, voiced his demand for the match to be played in Turkey, saying, “We do not agree for this match to be played in Saudi Arabia. Galatasaray fans did not bow to any bullying or imposition. They will not bow down now either.”
Doğan criticized Mehmet Büyükekşi, the President of the Turkish Football Federation, who is a member of the general assembly of Galatasaray Club, and delivered a petition to the disciplinary board regarding Büyükekşi’s expulsion from the club.
There was also a debate surrounding the club’s debt, with council member Serol Acarkan expressing concerns about the increasing debt and criticizing the Riva and Mecidiyeköy projects. President Dursun Özbek responded by calling for unity and solidarity, emphasizing the need for belief and commitment to overcome the club’s debt burden.
Overall, the meeting highlighted the dedication of club members to the values and integrity of Galatasaray, with a commitment to making decisions in the best interest of the club and its fans.
