Georgian Artist Honored in Budapest Through Art Therapy
Outstanding Georgian artist Niko Pirosmani was honored and celebrated on July 19 by the Embassy of Georgia in Hungary. The event, titled “Pirosmani and Wine,” was hosted by the diplomatic mission of Georgia at the French Institute in Budapest. Heads of diplomatic missions in Hungary and media representatives were in attendance to commemorate the renowned artist.
During the event, Ambassador of Georgia Mrs. Tamara Liluashvili provided insights into the life and work of Niko Pirosmani. She also shared the story behind his famous painting, “the Actress Margarita,” with the guests. To add an interactive element to the celebration, participants had the opportunity to create their own reproductions of Pirosmani’s artwork. Under the guidance of Ms. Marysia Ananiewska, an instructor from Paint and Drink – Budapest, Ljubljana, attendees painted their own versions of Pirosmani’s work while enjoying Georgian wines.
The best reproductions were recognized and awarded with a bottle of Georgian wine. The winners of the competition were Mr. Christo Polendakov, Ambassador of Bulgaria to Hungary, and Ms. Noémi Pálfalvi, Acting Director of International Relations at Mathias Corvinus Collegium – MCC.
The event aimed to raise awareness of Georgian art and wine and incorporated elements of art therapy. Notable figures such as heads of diplomatic missions accredited to Hungary and media representatives, including Alpár Kató, the owner of a popular website, were present at the celebration. The embassy shared photos of the event on their Facebook page, allowing everyone to catch a glimpse of the artistic and enjoyable evening.
