Georgian Publication of Magtymguly’s Poems Discussed by Sides

A delegation from Turkmenistan led by the president of the Academy of Sciences, Allaberdy Ashirov, recently met with the Chairman of the Creative Union of Writers of Georgia, Makvala Gonashvili on 19 April 2024. The meeting highlighted the importance of cultural and humanitarian ties in strengthening the relationship between the two countries based on principles of friendship, mutual respect, and trust.

During the meeting, Gonashvili presented the delegation with a Georgian translation of a collection of poems by the renowned Turkmen poet, Magtymguly, in honor of his 300th Anniversary. She proposed to publish a collection of his poems in Georgian to introduce the Georgian audience to the creative legacy of Magtymguly Fragi, a prominent philosopher and thinker of the East.

Both sides expressed their belief that collaboration between the creative and scientific intelligentsia of Turkmenistan and Georgia will enhance the friendship and mutual understanding between the two countries and their people.

The initiative and discussions during the meeting signify a step towards cultural exchange and strengthening ties between Turkmenistan and Georgia.
