
German Ambassador Urges Speaker to Reinstate German Language Classes for Schoolchildren

German Ambassador advocates for the teaching of German in Kyrgyz schools
The Ambassador of Germany to the Kyrgyz Republic, Gabriela Guellil, recently met with the Speaker of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan, Nurlanbek Shakiev, to discuss the importance of resuming the teaching of German to Kyrgyz schoolchildren. The press service of the Parliament reported on this meeting, where the two parties also talked about strengthening political, economic, cultural, and humanitarian ties between the two countries.
Nurlanbek Shakiev highlighted the positive developments in the bilateral partnership between Kyrgyzstan and Germany in recent years. He emphasized the significance of cooperation with Germany in various sectors such as industry, tourism, healthcare, and education. Shakiev expressed gratitude for Germany’s support in implementing social and economic projects in Kyrgyzstan.
During the meeting, the Speaker of the Parliament also addressed the issue of Kyrgyz students studying in Germany. He mentioned that many young people in Kyrgyzstan aspire to pursue their education in Germany and requested an increase in the quota for students from the Kyrgyz Republic.
Gabriela Guellil assured Shakiev that she would consider the proposal to increase the student quota and highlighted specific infrastructure projects in healthcare and education that Germany has supported in Kyrgyzstan. The Ambassador also mentioned the successful Kyrgyz-German Business Forum, which fostered direct contacts between entrepreneurs from both countries.
Overall, the meeting between the German Ambassador and the Speaker of the Parliament signifies the commitment to further enhancing the partnership between Germany and Kyrgyzstan, especially in areas of education, economy, and cultural exchange.
