Germany Supports Kyrgyzstan’s Emergencies Ministry with Equipment and Rescue Gear

Minister of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan Receives Equipment Donation from German Society for International Cooperation

Bishkek – 6 March 2024: The Minister of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan, Boobek Azhikeev, recently met with Torsten Brezina, the Cluster Coordinator for Climate, Water, Energy in Central Asia of the German Society for International Cooperation. During the meeting, an official ceremony was held to mark the handing over of equipment and rescue gear to the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

The German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) generously donated computers, laptops, UAVs, and other essential equipment to aid the Ministry of Emergency Situations in their emergency response efforts. This donation is particularly crucial in times of crisis when quick and effective responses are needed.

This donation is part of the regional climate and security Green Central Asia initiative, spearheaded by the German Federal Foreign Office. The initiative aims to enhance the management of transboundary climate and natural disaster risks in Central Asia. One of the key objectives of the project is to establish a regional early disaster risk warning system based on comprehensive monitoring of the hydrological regime of selected main water bodies within the region.

The collaboration between the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan and the German Society for International Cooperation is a testament to the importance of international partnerships in addressing climate-related challenges and improving disaster preparedness in Central Asia.
