Global Calls for Gender Equality and an End to Violence on International Women’s Day
On March 8, International Women’s Day was celebrated with rallies held in countries around the world to commemorate the achievements of women and call for greater equality and an end to domestic violence. From Kosovo to Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan to Azerbaijan, people came together to raise awareness and advocate for women’s rights.
In Kosovo, women marched through the streets calling for an end to gender-based violence and demanding equal opportunities in education and employment. In Kyrgyzstan, activists gathered to protest against discriminatory practices and policies that hinder women’s progress. In Pakistan, women and men joined forces to push for gender equality and an end to harmful cultural practices that oppress women. And in Azerbaijan, demonstrators highlighted the need for stronger legal protections for women and increased efforts to combat domestic violence.
These rallies served as a powerful reminder of the ongoing struggles faced by women around the world, but also as a testament to the resilience and determination of those fighting for change.
