Good news from Minister Kurum: Urban transformation to take place in Fikirtepe
Minister of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change and AK Party Istanbul 1st Region Deputy Candidate, Murat Kurum, has promised to eliminate all risky buildings in Istanbul. Speaking to the mosque community after Friday prayers at the Hasanpaşa Mosque in Kadıköy, Istanbul, Kurum said that serving Istanbul means serving the city’s history and future. He went on to explain how the government is committed to transforming 1.5 million residences in Istanbul, so that no citizen lives in an unsafe building. The Kadıköy Hasanpaşa Neighborhood Urban Transformation Meeting generated great interest, with Kurum announcing that 529,000 independent departments applied for Istanbul’s transformation plans. Kurum also listed the ways in which the government was creating new housing for citizens, including the construction of 12,000 houses in Fikirtepe. In addition to his announcements, Kurum also emphasized that the government is committed to eliminating the property grievances faced by citizens in Kadıköy and other areas of Istanbul, so that everyone has a safe and secure place to live.
