Renowned Journalist Özcan Özcanhan Laid to Rest
Nicosia, Cyprus – Today, friends, family, and colleagues gathered to pay their final respects to Özcan Özcanhan, a prominent journalist and the founder of several significant sports organizations and non-governmental organizations in Cyprus. The ceremony took place at the Turkish Cypriot Sports Writers Association, an organization he co-founded and served as the first President.
Özcan Özcanhan made significant contributions to the Turkish Cypriot press throughout his career, leaving a lasting impact on the media landscape. Known for his dedication and passion for sports, he played a crucial role in establishing and leading institutions such as the Turkish Cypriot Football Federation Central Referee Board, the Turkish Cypriot Football Referees and Observers Association, and the Turkish Cypriot Sports Writers Association.
Following the morning ceremony, Özcan Özcanhan’s body was laid to rest in the Nicosia Cemetery after the noon prayer at the İsmail Safa Mosque. The funeral was attended by numerous members of the media and prominent figures from the sports community, who paid their final respects to the beloved journalist.
Özcan Özcanhan’s passing marks a significant loss for the Turkish Cypriot press industry and the sports community. His contributions and dedication to journalism and sports in Cyprus will undoubtedly be remembered and cherished for years to come.
