GOP Claims Biden Family Profited from Foreign Ties
Republican lawmakers are calling for a parliamentary investigation into President Biden and his family’s alleged “dark business deals” that supposedly took advantage of public office and put national security at risk. House Oversight and Accountability Committee Chairman James Comer held a press conference where he claimed access to new bank records that show money transfers from foreign nationals and organizations to the Biden family while he was vice president.
Comer specifically stated that during Biden’s vice-presidential period, family members received over $1 million from cooperation with a Romanian national who was later convicted of corruption in Romania. The flow of money apparently stopped when Biden finished his term.
Additionally, Comer accused Hunter Biden of having a close relationship with a businessman who he claims is at the top of the Chinese Communist Party, thus earning him millions of dollars. Comer also stated that they suspect Biden and his partners of using a complex network of over 20 companies to enrich themselves, claiming they received more than $10 million from foreign nationals and companies.
Comer argued that these money transfers are unethical and also put American national security at risk, as there is a lack of legislation on such matters. The lawmakers have urged the FBI to inform the Committee about their allegations that the bureau has information about the subject.
However, the White House spokesperson in charge of oversight and investigations, Ian Sams, has said that Comer has failed to provide any evidence of President Biden’s wrongdoing. He called the accusations “desperate and sad.”
