Government Agencies Mandated to Regulate Food Prices

Bishkek – The Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of Kyrgyzstan, Bakyt Torobaev, recently convened a meeting to address concerns regarding food prices in the country.
During the meeting, Torobaev emphasized that Kyrgyzstan has an adequate supply of food reserves and issued a stern warning against those who unjustifiably raise prices. He directed the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, the Antimonopoly Regulation Service, as well as regional and local government bodies to closely monitor and regulate food prices.
To ensure compliance, these government agencies will establish special operational headquarters to oversee the cost of food products in various regions. They will also provide regular updates on their progress to the presidential administration.
The meeting participants also discussed strategies for monitoring and analyzing food prices, enforcing price stability, and cracking down on sellers and entrepreneurs who engage in price gouging. Additionally, they reviewed the current efforts to control market prices effectively.
With the government’s commitment to addressing rising food prices, Kyrgyzstan aims to safeguard affordability and accessibility to essential food items for its citizens.
