Government Plans to Enhance Oversight for Validating New Employment Opportunities

Jamshid Kuchkarov, the Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, has revealed plans to enhance the verification system for newly created jobs in the country. Currently, job authenticity is verified through the Tax Committee’s database, which monitors salaries, taxes, and self-employment registrations. Starting this February, the Chamber of Accounts will also collaborate to ensure the accuracy of this data.

In an interview with the “O’zbekiston 24” TV channel following a presidential meeting on February 3, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Jamshid Kuchkarov outlined key measures to achieve the government’s ambitious goals for 2025. These include providing employment for 5.2 million people, lifting 1.5 million citizens out of poverty, attracting $42 billion in foreign investments, and increasing exports to over $30 billion.

Kuchkarov reported that in January alone, 277,000 individuals found employment. Among them, 91,000 secured permanent jobs, 153,000 started entrepreneurial activities, and over 21,000 families were lifted out of poverty.

Highlighting the untapped potential in household plots, Kuchkarov emphasized the need to address the lack of access to water in 850 mahallas. By March 1, this issue must be resolved with 250 billion UZS allocated for the effort, as per the presidential directive.

To streamline the process, each group of four mahallas will be assigned a “mahalla banker” to oversee the planting of agricultural crops on household plots. Governor assistants will also play a role in this process, ensuring the effective distribution of loans, subsidies, and vocational training programs.

Furthermore, the implementation of key programs will be closely monitored, with the President set to receive monthly reports from responsible officials. This initiative aims to track progress and ensure the successful achievement of the government’s targets.

With these measures in place, Uzbekistan is taking decisive steps towards economic growth, job creation, poverty alleviation, and sustainable development. Through enhanced verification systems and strategic planning, the country is poised to achieve its long-term goals and improve the livelihoods of its citizens.
