Government Warns Artists Against Promoting Religious Messages
Uzbek Artists Briefed on Code of Conduct and State Policy on Religious Affairs
During a meeting at the Ministry of Culture on March 3, Uzbek singers were briefed on important documents such as the Code of Conduct for Artists and the Concept of State Policy on Religious Affairs. The meeting, attended by representatives from law enforcement agencies and the Committee on Religious Affairs, aimed to reinforce the moral and cultural responsibilities of Uzbek artists.
First Deputy Minister of Culture Bahodir Ahmedov urged artists to avoid extravagance and ostentatious displays of luxury. The event brought together various stakeholders, including law enforcement officials, the press secretary of the Committee on Religious Affairs Ilhom Marufov, the leadership of Uzbekkonsert, and a number of artists.
Discussions during the meeting covered topics such as professional ethics, licensing requirements for concert and performance activities, and copyright regulations. Artists were also reminded of the presidential decree on protecting entrepreneurs’ rights and legal interests.
The meeting emphasized the need for artists to adhere to licensing conditions, including the prohibition of promoting any specific religion within the entertainment industry. It also highlighted the importance of following Uzbekistan’s Constitution and other legal regulations, as well as upholding national values and cultural norms.
First Deputy Minister Ahmedov stressed the importance of respecting national customs, traditions, and values, and avoiding excessive displays of wealth and luxury. Artists were encouraged to produce songs that reflect love for the homeland, loyalty, and patriotism, serving as role models for the younger generation.
The Ministry of Culture’s statement underscored the significance of addressing copyright infringement issues and producing content that aligns with national values. The meeting aimed to ensure that Uzbek artists contribute positively to society while upholding ethical standards and cultural integrity.
