
Government’s Initiative to Alleviate Poverty for 1.5 Million Citizens by Year-End

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan is leading efforts to create jobs and attract investments in the country, aiming to make 2025 a turning point in addressing employment challenges and reducing poverty. During a meeting on February 3, the President emphasized the importance of these goals and outlined ambitious targets for the near future.
According to the press service of the head of state, Uzbekistan aims to provide employment for 5.2 million people this year, lifting 1.5 million citizens out of poverty. The country also plans to attract $42 billion in foreign investments and increase export volumes to over $30 billion. To achieve these targets, 8,000 projects worth $14 billion are set to be implemented, creating 272,000 permanent jobs.
In 2021, Uzbekistan attracted $3 billion in foreign investments, and a similar amount is expected in February with the launch of 630 new projects. President Mirziyoyev stressed the importance of accelerating investment efforts and managing projects effectively. Officials have been instructed to work closely with foreign partners, support entrepreneurs in entering international markets, and integrate more enterprises into export activities.
With these ambitious targets and strategies in place, Uzbekistan is aiming to boost its economy, create more job opportunities, and improve the livelihoods of its citizens. The government’s focus on job creation and attracting investments signals a commitment to driving economic growth and development in the country.
