Head of State and First Lady make official visit to Salyan district
President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva pay tribute to Heydar Aliyev in Salyan
On April 18th, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva paid a visit to the Salyan district. During their visit, the couple visited a statue of Great Leader Heydar Aliyev in the city of Salyan.
President Aliyev and First Lady Aliyeva paid their respects to Heydar Aliyev, who served as the National Leader of Azerbaijan from 1969 until his death in 2003. The couple laid flowers at the statue to honor the memory and legacy of Heydar Aliyev.
Heydar Aliyev was known for his role in the Soviet Union as a high-ranking official, serving as the head of the Azerbaijani KGB and the First Secretary of the Communist Party of Azerbaijan. After his retirement from Soviet politics, Aliyev returned to Azerbaijan and became a prominent political figure, leading the country as president from 1993 until 2003.
His leadership is credited with stabilizing Azerbaijan following the collapse of the Soviet Union, as well as transforming the country’s economy through the implementation of market-oriented reforms. Heydar Aliyev is widely regarded as a key figure in the history of Azerbaijan and is celebrated throughout the country with statues, monuments, and public buildings named after him.
President Aliyev and First Lady Aliyeva’s visit to the statue in Salyan is a testament to the continued reverence and respect for Heydar Aliyev and his contributions to Azerbaijan’s development.
