Heavy Rains Trigger Floods and Landslides in Rize – Latest news from Turkey

Heavy Rainfall Causes Landslides and Road Closures in Rize
The heavy downpours that began yesterday in Rize have continued intermittently, causing disruptions to daily life. One of the most affected areas is Akbucak village in Pazar district, where a landslide occurred due to the heavy rains. Trees and mud fell onto the village road, forcing it to be closed to traffic.
In Ardeşen district, on the Köprüköy road, another landslide caused the road to be closed after excavation materials landed on it. The landslide also blocked a culvert, leading to water overflowing onto the village road. Similarly, in Komilo village of Çamlıhemşin district, a landslide resulted in mud and trees falling behind houses, closing the road to traffic.
Rize Special Provincial Administration teams have already begun assessing the damage and carrying out cleaning work on the affected roads to ensure transportation to the villages can resume as soon as possible. As the heavy rainfall continues, residents are urged to remain cautious and stay updated on any road closures or safety advisories.
