Helis Project Launches First Thematic Discussion Event at BRTK

Queer Cyprus Association Holds First Thematic Discussion on Legal Protection and Rights for LGBTI+

The Queer Cyprus Association recently held the first of a series of thematic discussion events as part of the Helis Project. The event focused on the topic of “Legal Protection and Rights for LGBTI+ individuals.”

During the event, which took place at the Queer Cyprus Association locale, activists and community members from both Northern and Southern Cyprus came together to discuss the progress of LGBTI+ rights in Cyprus and the challenges that members of the community continue to face.

The Helis Project, which is funded by the European Union’s Assistance Program for the Turkish Cypriot community, aims to promote advocacy efforts for LGBTI+ individuals across Cyprus. Six thematic discussions will be held as part of the project.

The Queer Cyprus Association is collaborating with ACCEPT LGBTI and Queer Collective organizations in Southern Cyprus to bring these events to fruition. By working together, these organizations hope to address the current problems and issues faced by the LGBTI+ community in Cyprus.

Overall, the thematic discussions aim to raise awareness, promote dialogue, and advocate for the rights and legal protection of LGBTI+ individuals in Cyprus. Through these events, the Queer Cyprus Association and its partners are working towards a more inclusive and supportive society for all.
