Hidden Customs: Neighbor Finds 245 Thousand Euros in Seat

A Turkish citizen attempted to smuggle 245 thousand euros into Turkey through the Hamzabeyli border crossing. The incident took place at the Lesovo Customs Gate, where the driver, identified as SA, was stopped by Bulgarian officials for a routine inspection.
SA claimed to be transporting a car from Germany to Turkey and insisted that he had nothing to declare. However, upon further inspection, customs officials discovered a stash of euro banknotes concealed under the passenger seat in the car.
The Bulgarian authorities confiscated the 245 thousand euros and handed the case over to the Yambol Regional Prosecutor’s Office for further investigation.
This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of complying with customs regulations and declaring all valuables when crossing international borders.
