Public Figures and Mountaineers Climb Putin Peak to Honor Soldiers of Great Patriotic War

A group of public figures and mountaineers recently embarked on a challenging expedition to climb Putin Peak, paying tribute to the soldiers who fought in the Great Patriotic War. The organizers of the climb shared details with 24.kg news agency.

Timed to coincide with the 79th anniversary of Victory Day, participants carried portraits of their ancestors as part of the Immortal Regiment campaign. The journey began on May 5, with volunteers crossing the Aksai Gorge on horseback before camping for the night and commencing the ascent to the peak.

On May 6, the climbers started their ascent in the morning and successfully conquered Putin Peak in a total of 10 hours. Following the climb, the group celebrated by singing military songs and launching festive fireworks.

Notable participants in the campaign included Ruslan Kydyrmyshev, Advisor to the President of the Kyrgyz Republic on sports, Marlen Mamataliev, Deputy of the Parliament, Robert Frantsev, journalist and blogger, Assol Moldokmatova, TV presenter, and others.

Putin Peak, standing at 4,446 meters in the Tien Shan mountain system, served as the highest point for an Immortal Regiment march. Before setting off on their hike, the group received the Victory Banner from veterans of the Kyrgyz Society of Siege Survivors.

The expedition’s success not only honored the soldiers of the past but also served as a testament to the unity and strength of the present-day participants.
