Sabiha Gökçen Airport Takes Measures for the Holiday Season

Sabiha Gökçen Airport (SGA) has announced that it has implemented various measures in anticipation of the holiday rush. As one of Turkey’s busiest airports, SGA connects 154 destinations in 51 countries. In the first five months of this year alone, the airport served 14 million passengers, prompting officials to plan for a comfortable and hassle-free travel experience during the holiday season.

Berk Albayrak, the CEO of SGA, stated that extra personnel have been assigned to the terminal operations unit to ensure that passengers can reach their flight gates without any issues. Additional staff have also been allocated for security and cleaning teams. Albayrak emphasized that their main goal is to provide high-quality, fast, and comfortable service to passengers at every touchpoint in the terminal, aiming to deliver an excellent travel experience.

Albayrak said, “In order to effectively manage the holiday rush, we have assigned additional personnel to both terminal operations and security checkpoints. Additionally, with the help of artificial intelligence, we are able to monitor our operational processes to immediately address any congested areas, direct support teams, and expedite procedures.”

To handle the combination of the summer season, holidays, and pilgrimages, Albayrak assured that all necessary measures have been taken to manage the expected influx of travelers. He emphasized the use of digital solutions to streamline pre-trip transactions, such as the Sabiha Gökçen Mobile Application for real-time flight information and self-service kiosks for check-in. Albayrak also highlighted the Fast Passport Pass System, which enables passengers to complete passport procedures using their chip passports without waiting in line.

In addition to the implemented measures, Albayrak announced that new destinations are being added to support the holiday season. Starting this month, British Airways will be offering flights from SGA to London Heathrow Airport, as well as airports in Rhodes and Lesbos in Greece, Amman in Jordan, and Kazan in Russia.

SGA assures travelers that they have made all necessary arrangements to ensure a smooth and enjoyable travel experience during the holiday season. Passengers are encouraged to take advantage of the airport’s digital solutions and the newly added flight routes to enhance their journey.
