High level negotiations between President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov of Turkmenistan and President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan recently met in the Turkmen capital for negotiations aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries. The meeting took place on October 10, 2024, as part of President Tokayev’s official visit to Turkmenistan.
The two leaders engaged in high-level one-on-one discussions at the «Rowaç» hall, where they discussed various issues related to Turkmen-Kazakh cooperation. President Berdimuhamedov expressed gratitude to President Tokayev for his contribution to the development of strategic partnership between the two nations. He emphasized the importance of regular high-level meetings in fostering multifaceted cooperation.
President Tokayev, in turn, highlighted the close relationship between Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan, describing the latter as a strategic partner for his country. He commended Turkmenistan’s efforts to strengthen international ties under the leadership of President Berdimuhamedov.
During the negotiations, both presidents discussed a wide range of topics including trade, economic cooperation, transport, logistics, and cultural exchange. They also exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual interest. The talks continued in an expanded format with the participation of official delegations from both countries.
President Berdimuhamedov praised the achievements in various sectors of cooperation and emphasized the potential for further collaboration in areas such as transport, agriculture, and industry. President Tokayev highlighted the progress made in trade and economic relations, particularly in industry and energy sectors. He also acknowledged Turkmenistan’s efforts to preserve Kazakh cultural heritage.
The negotiations concluded with the signing of bilateral agreements in the «Seljuk han» hall. Subsequently, both presidents addressed the media in the «Magtymguly» hall, expressing optimism about the future of Turkmen-Kazakh relations.
Overall, the meeting between President Berdimuhamedov and President Tokayev reaffirmed the commitment of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan to strengthening their partnership and exploring new avenues of cooperation for the benefit of both nations.
