
Historic Future Games Inaugurated!

Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Chernyshenko, along with the head of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, recently participated in the closing ceremony of the multi-sport tournament “Future Games” in Kazan. The event featured a unique format of a physical concert that brought together artists and digital performers, utilizing movable programmable screens and projection surfaces to blur the line between the real and virtual worlds.
The first international multi-sport tournament, “Games of the Future,” took place in Kazan from February 21 to March 3. The competition program consisted of 21 innovative disciplines in the phygital concept, combining classical and digital sports. Over 2,000 participants from 294 teams, ranging in age from 12 to 62 years old, gathered in Kazan for the event.
The opening ceremony of the Future Games was a spectacular and high-tech affair attended by over 3.5 thousand athletes, guests, and official delegations, including heads of foreign states. Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed the significance of the innovative international tournament and emphasized the promotion of sport and its humanistic values.
Deputy Prime Minister Chernyshenko hailed the success of the competition, describing it as technological, dynamic, inspiring, and entertaining. He thanked the athletes for their competitive spirit and the spectators for their support, highlighting the role of Kazan and the Republic of Tatarstan in hosting the event at a brilliant level.
Kazan once again showcased its organizational capabilities by hosting the Games of the Future in 11 competition venues across the city. The tournament saw the participation of athletes from various countries, with 236 individuals from Russia, China, India, and other nations emerging as winners and prize-winners.
The widespread interest in the Games of the Future was evident through the extensive media coverage and broadcast channels that covered the event. More than nine countries have already expressed their desire to host the tournament in the future, indicating the growing popularity and success of the phygital movement in sports.
As Kazan bids farewell to the tournament, Deputy Prime Minister Chernyshenko expressed optimism for the future of the Games and passed the baton to the next countries willing to embrace the phygital movement. The event marked a significant milestone in the world of sports, showcasing innovation, talent, and global collaboration.
