“How many deputies did the Nation Alliance appoint and by whom?”

CHP Increases Number of Deputies in Turkish Parliament

The main opposition party in Turkey, the Republican People’s Party (CHP), increased their number of deputies in the recent elections. The CHP entered the election with a joint list of members from DEVA, SP, Future, and DP, and they were able to bring 167 deputies to the Parliament. This is an increase of 22 compared to the previous elections. However, with the deputies of the alliance partner parties leaving in the new legislative term and switching to their own parties, the number of CHP deputies will remain below the number of 146 in the previous period.

A total of 33 deputies, 13 each from DEVA, Future, and SP, were removed from the CHP ranks. Thus, the number of CHP deputies will be 135. The Good Party (IYI Party) increased the number of deputies by 1 to 44 while maintaining the vote rate of the previous period.

The IYI Party brought 43 deputies to the Parliament in the 24 June 2018 elections with 10% of the votes. According to the uncertain results, in this election, the IYI Party reached 9.87% of the vote and sent 44 deputies to the Parliament.

The CHP, which has elected a deputy for the first time since 1980 in Rize, is sending Tahsin Ocaklı to the Parliament. The number of parties in the parliament will increase by one in the new period, with 15 parties taking place compared to 14 in the past term.

Representatives of political parties owned the ballot boxes and the votes of their voters until the last minute.
