Hungarian Company Ventures into Groundwater Management Projects in Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan’s Ambassador, Oybek Shakhavdinov, recently held a meeting with the Director of the Hungarian company GeoGold Kárpátia, Antal Serfőző. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss potential collaboration on various projects related to geological, hydrogeological, and environmental research.

GeoGold Kárpátia is known for its expertise in the implementation of geological, hydrogeological, and environmental projects, as well as geophysical and water studies on the earth’s surface. The company has been involved in numerous international projects focusing on groundwater and environmental research, with projects extending beyond the Carpathian Basin to regions such as Northern Tanzania, Uzbekistan, and the Balkans.

One of the ongoing projects that GeoGold Kárpátia has been undertaking since 2022 is titled “Determination of the Aquifer Using Geophysical Measurements and Hydrogeological Modeling, and the Creation of a Hydrogeological Monitoring System” in the Namangan region of Uzbekistan.

During the meeting between Ambassador Shakhavdinov and Director Serfőző, new initiatives aimed at enhancing the efficient use of groundwater resources were discussed. As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached to facilitate negotiations between representatives of GeoGold Kárpátia and various Uzbekistani governmental bodies including the Ministry of Water Management, Ministry of Construction and Housing and Communal Services, Ministry of Energy, Uzsuvtaminot JSC, Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, as well as officials from Karakalpakstan, Khorezm, Kashkadarya, and other regions of Uzbekistan.

This partnership between Uzbekistan and GeoGold Kárpátia holds great promise for advancing research and sustainable use of groundwater resources in the country, contributing to environmental protection and water management efforts.
